[= Are you interested in having a try?] In the place name 泰國 taai3 gwok3 (‘Thailand’), the first syllable 泰 taai3 is pronounced the same as the word 太 taai3 (‘too’). Many Thai restaurants in Hong Kong use this to make a pun in their shop names. For example, 泰好味 taai3 hou2 mei6 here means ‘Thailand / too + delicious’. |
