53.6 Referring to Items by Attributes

Audio is not available for this page yet.

When comparing different items, we can refer to a specific item by its attribute (e.g., its color or price). To do so, we can use the following structure to form a noun phrase. The attribute can be an adjective or a noun.

Attribute呢 / 嗰
ni1 / go2
‘this’ / ‘that’
ClassifierItem
紅色this red top
hung4 sik1ni1gin6saam1
redthisCLtop
貴啲that more expensive coat
gwai3 di1go2gin6lau1
more expensivethatCLcoat

We often omit the item if it is obvious in the context.
