Some common surnames and first names of Hong Kong Cantonese speakers are listed below. Choose your own Cantonese name. Then, work in pairs. Greet your partner and introduce yourself by using your Cantonese name.
For first names, separate lists for the second and third syllables are made here just so that you can create a combination that sounds like a common name easily. In the real world, many of the syllables are used in both positions. Feel free to play around with the characters and find a combination that is pleasing to your ears!
It is usually not easy to come up with a gender-neutral name using these common first names. Most of them are associated with a specific gender.
