4.2 The Adverb 唔 m4 (‘not’)

The adverb m4 means ‘not’. We use it to negate a verb in the present tense. We put 唔 m4 before the verb we want to negate.

  1. 我行山。
    ngo5 haang4 saan1.
    I hike.
      ↓
    行山。
    ngo5 m4 haang4 saan1.
    I I don’t hike.

  2. 我鍾意睇戲。
    ngo5 zung1 ji3 tai2 hei3.
    I like watching movies.
      ↓
    鍾意睇戲。
    ngo5 m4 zung1 ji3 tai2 hei3.
    I don’t like watching movies.
